FAQs
Why do wooden floors need repairing? Time and regular use can wear away and dull the finish of a wooden floor. On top of this, damage, staining and other factors can all conspire to rob your floor of its good looks. Sanding allows you to push back the years and reveal the beautiful floor that lies beneath.
Not necessarily. We find that even after years of neglect, wooden floors can be rescued by professional sanding and finishing. Individual boards can be repaired or even replaced if necessary, while sanding removes the built up grime and smoothes the surface. Once a finish is applied, it’s entirely possible that visitors will mistake your formerly dilapidated floor for a completely new one! Can’t I sand it myself? Yes you could, but whether you should is a different matter entirely! It’s certainly not something the uninitiated should attempt, and a haphazard attempt at sanding may result in your floor looking worse than when you started. Even experienced DIY-ers may struggle if they lack the proper equipment, while sanding machines for hire can be of unpredictable quality. For the best results, it’s always best to leave it to the professionals.
We have almost 20 years of experience in sanding and finishing floors across Essex CM5. We’re Junckers Approved Maintenance Contractors, and are members of the National Wood Flooring Association, the Guild of Master Craftsmen, and the Federation of Small Businesses. Most importantly though, every one of our team is passionate about wooden floors and dedicated to delivering excellent results. Don’t take our word for it though – you can read numerous testimonials from Essex homeowners and businesses here.
Are your team well trained?
How much will it cost me? The exact cost will vary depending on the size and condition of your floor. We offer a free on-site consultation and quote with no obligation, so you can find out exactly what it will cost you before you commit. The price we quote you is the price you’ll pay, and there are absolutely no hidden charges to worry about.
We offer a range of stains, waxes, oils and varnishes. You can view many of these in real world settings by visiting our gallery.
I’ve heard floor sanding can be very dusty, is this true? In the past this was true, and it may still be the case for some companies. But at the Essex Floor Sanding company CM18 we specialise in providing a virtually dust-free service. This is made possible by our use of sophisticated continuous belt machinery, which produces minimal dust, coupled with mobile extraction units that suck up the dust before it disperses.
Yes we do. Our assessor will consult with you to determine any boards that need to be repaired, and repairs will then be carried out before the sanding process. Any boards that are beyond repair can be replaced with matching wood of the same type.
How long will the whole process take? Most average-sized rooms can be completed within two days, but this can vary. If extensive repairs are needed or floorboards need to be replaced it may take slightly longer. When we provide you with a quote we’ll let you know how long your specific job will take.
In addition to minimising the amount of dust created by sanding, our professional team will meticulously clean up and tidy before they leave, leaving you to enjoy your transformed floor and get the room just how you want it.
Sounds good! How do I get started?
